Project Update 18th February 2008
Much of the scaffolding has been removed from the outside of church and the beauty of the cleaned and repaired stonework can be seen. The portico scaffolding is now being removed following painting works on its ceiling and stone cleaning works. The new staircase from church to Crypt in the NW porch is open and the lift in that porch to provide universal access to the Crypt is expected soon. Now that the scaffolding is being removed, the hand-blown clear glass allows more light into church making it much lighter and brighter. Work in the new underground spaces continues. The fit out of some rooms is complete, giving a much better sense of the whole complex. The light well and pavilion are ready for their glass, which is being manufactured. Work on the North Range is progressing and will continue for a little while longer.
