Make your gift go further
There are many ways in which a gift can be made to the Campaign:
Outright gifts and Gift Aid
Gifts of cash are the most useful way of supporting the project. If cash gifts are made from taxable income, they can be enhanced by approximately 28% with Gift Aid simply by completing a simple form (Click here to download »). Additionally, higher rate taxpayers can claim further relief on gifts made under the Gift Aid scheme. American tax payers can also give tax efficiently through St Martin's US foundation. Find out more by clicking on the 'American Donors' link above.)
Gifts of shares
In the UK, Share Giving is the most generous tax relief available to donors. Share gifts qualify for relief equal to the market value of the shares the day that the gift is made, including associated costs such as broker's fees. For example, a gift of £1000 worth of shares made by a higher rate taxpayer, would reduce their tax bill by £400 for the year. Additionally, the donor is not liable for Capital Gains Tax (CGT) that would otherwise have been due on the shares. This can be as much as 40% of the value of the shares. Pledges
St Martin-in-the-Fields encourages pledges as a way of giving to the campaign. You might consider making a monthly or annual pledge for two years. We are happy to assist with setting up standing orders. Pledges can be enhanced by approximately 28% by Gift Aid when the money is paid.
Matching gifts by your employer
Where appropriate, those who wish to enhance the value of a gift are encouraged to contact their employer to determine if there is a corporate matching gift programme in place. Many UK employers enhance gifts made through the Give As You Earn (GAYE) Scheme.
Legacies
St Martin-in-the-Fields has a legacy gift programme to accommodate the forethought of such donors. A legacy is one of the most common methods that people choose to make a planned gift to St Martin's. Gifts of this type are both far-sighted and practical, and are immensely valued by St Martin's. As well as seeking legal advice, if you would like to discuss how best to make a gift in your Will, please contact the Campaign Team on +44 (0)20 7766 1120 or by e-mail to campaign@smitf.org
Gifts of Real Estate
Gifts of unencumbered real estate offer another way to make a donation.
Shared gifts
Donors should keep in mind the option of shared gifts which enable several donors to combine resources to create a larger gift than they could make alone. This is an excellent opportunity for donors wishing to leverage their funds to the maximum benefit of the campaign while receiving recognition.
Corporate sponsorship
There are a number of benefits to companies supporting St Martin's, including branding opportunities, concert tickets and promotions. A range of projects are available for sponsorship including exhibitions, events and hoardings.
